General Information on Rules Regarding Consent to the Use of Cookies
Italian legislation (Art. 122 of Legislative Decree 196/03 “Personal Data Protection Code”, hereinafter briefly referred to as the “Code”) incorporated Directive 2009/136/EC into the national legal framework, requiring website operators that use cookies or other tracking technologies to inform users about the types of cookies used by the website.
The Provision of the Italian Data Protection Authority no. 229 of May 8, 2014, published in the Official Gazette no. 126 of June 3, 2014, categorized cookies into two macro-categories: ‘technical cookies’ and ‘profiling cookies’.
