TURBO ARMEC FLOW S Flow Bench: precision and professional control
The FLOW S model represents the basic solution for flow testing.
It is a static bench: the turbines is not rotated, as the system does not include lubrication. The rotor is therefore locked using a dedicated device.
Function
The bench restores the turbo's performance to the original reference values through an adjustment and verification process.
Test method
The test is based on the comparison between:
- target values of the new turbo
- values recorded during the test
The system simulates the airflow generated by the engine and measures the flow rate in liters for minute.
Three-point analysis
Measurements are carried out in three operating conditions:
- Variable-geometry turbines: open, intermediate, closed
- Non-variable-geometry turbines: bypass open, intermediate, closed
This approach ensures full control of the turbo's behaviour across the entire operating range, from low to high revs.
Advantages
- Compatibility with both variable-geometry and fixed-geometry turbines
- Precise valve control (electronic or pneumatic)
- Greater accuracy in calibrating rebuilt turbines
Scalability
The bench is designed to grow over time: you can start with a basic configuration and later integrate upgrades and additional features.
Modular structure and upgradability
The new design approach is based on a single shared frame for the entire range of benches.
This architecture allows customers to initially choose the configuration that best suits their needs and evolve the system over time by adding upgrades without replacing the entire machine.
It is possible, for example:
- to move from static flow testing to dynamic
- to evolve from dynamic flow to dual-stage
All benches are therefore designed with mechanical and structural provisions already integrated, allowing simple and progressive expansion.
Investment benefits
This approach eliminates the risk of obsolescence:
- you can start from a basic solution
- you retain the possibility of future growth
- you optimise the return on investment over time
This way, even those with limited initial needs are not constrained by structural limits.
Component quality
A distinguishing element is the choice of high‑quality industrial components designed to ensure reliability, operational continuity and ease of maintenance.
Pneumatics
For air management, the benches use Festo components, a global reference in the sector.
This guarantees:
- high build quality
- consistent performance over time
- spare parts easily available internationally
Electronics and control
Siemens technology is used for electronic control.
Choosing to avoid proprietary PCBs significantly reduces risks related to:
- component obsolescence
- maintenance difficulties
- dependence on specific suppliers
Operational benefits
- greater overall reliability
- simplified maintenance
- global availability of spare parts
- guaranteed operational continuity over time
